Chapter Eight.

One fine, furry night, when the moon was full and the mice were even fuller, having raided the grain store at old man Cooper’s place, Jay and Patsy were deep in conversation about the Berkely Hunt and puppy walking and other such arcane but fascinating details.

Chapter Seven


So…there we were : Patsy looming over the Fox, Jay right by her shoulder and Tina next to her, muttering sotto voce : "Red Herring ? Red Herring ?"

"Red herring ?" squeaked the Fox, suddenly a little perturbed, a little less arrogant and – to be honest – suddenly sounding just a little scared.

Patsy opened her mouth and show her teeth : this is what passes for a Scaremonster grin.

I decided to look up an old band I loved when I was about 14 and see what they were up to.

Turns out they're touring a full 20 years after the release of their biggest selling album and doing the fashionable thing that bands do now and playing the whole album in full from start to finish live.

That made me look up a couple of other bands from those days.

Then I started looking up some of the TV shows these bands appeared on like Zig & Zag, MTV's Most ...

You must listen carefully, for what I am about to tell you could mean the difference between a good night’s sleep and..well, a not so good night’s sleep.

A "bad" monster is, quite simply, a monster who is terribly ugly and smelly and blames little children for his uglyness and smellyness.
