finely!!! am moving on... got Bandit 600 front forks & yokes... £125..sweet.
after removing GT yokes, and doing some measuring to the yoke stem.. have found that a 15mm thick spacer to the bottom of the Bandit yoke stem, where the bottom taper bearing gos should work well.. then take 3mm off the thickness of the stem, so the GT bottom taper bearing will fit, the top bearing is same size so no need to alter that, but may need a 5mm spacer for the steering lock nut ?.
took the yokes to work today.. had the yoke stem pressed out of the bottom yoke so it can be turned down.. "5 tonne popped it out"..no trouble!!
next step... the arse end.. keeping with bandit, going to graft the bandit swing arm on.. but convert it to twin shock try and keep to the 70's look if i can ?..
It sounds as though you are getting there Von... can't wait to see the finished bike
the donor bandit swing arm is taking shape plates welded on & centre shock arm removed... Neil & al are doing a good job!!
nice one lads..
engine back in frame...Modded swing arm in place... the bandit sprocket carrier
won't work!!!
the front sprocket lineament to the rear is far to large!! would have to take nearly 2" off
had a talk with a GT owner he's told me I'll need a GSX750F rear sprocket carrier as it's smaller and it will only need about 9mm taking off it for it to work,
I'll give it a go and see what happens...
Sounds like its getting there Von... any piccies ?
indeed i have Mand.....
but I'm still unable to upload photos.... s1oppy is gunner sort it when he can..
the GSX750F sprocket carrier arrived....
whoop de doo.... and it's identical to the bandit one... Ho joy..
still if i bugger it up altering it.... i have another one to play with...
