Rear sprocket +2 teeth.. new chain needed?
Hello chaps,
Do you need to replace the chain and front sprocket to "match" a higher tooth rear sprocket or will the chain adjusters absorb the difference?..
cheers
-
You need to replace the chain, front sprocket and rear sprocket with the shaft drive assy. from a 1989 BMW R100GS.
-
It is commonly accepted as best practise to replace chain and sprocket as a set, this avoids excessive wear on the new sproket by the old chain.
or something.
-
also, if you've changed the rear sprocket you'll have to inform your insurance company of the modification or you'll be totally uninsured should you have an accident and run over a orphan.
-
Would it be ok, if you had an accident that didn't involve orphans?
-
Yes, you'd only be un-insured if you hit Orphans, Kittens or people called Ronald.
