You can turn those off.
From the top menu that runs across the screen, choose 'User CP'
Then on the new screen from the options on the left choose 'Edit Options'
On the next screen on the main body of the page scroll down to the 3rd frame 'Thread Display Options' and here you can uncheck the boxes 'Show Signatures' & 'Show Avatars' leave the 'Show Images' otherwise you wont see posted pictures.
Once done, scroll to the bottom of the page and click 'Save Changes'
