better off ? End up with a new bike maybe ? Meself I wouldn't feel the same about my bike if it's had major repairs, For sure if mine was stolen I'd never want to see it again it would be tainted if I got it back.
Only one good thing about that.
It's not his insurance.
Bet he's gutted though.

i woulda thought the insurance would waver that as it's not his fault ?

un don't think his new Mrs will let him have another one!! hope I'm wrong... but i get the felling....
What the hell has it got to do with her?
Ffs women can't live with em, can live without em ;)
Why is he having to pay the excess?
The bike shop had his bike when it was nicked. Their claim, not his, surely.

Crafty buggers the bike shops are.
Their excess is a stupid amount, probably in the thousands.
They'll do their damn hardest to get him to claim of his own insurance not there own
bike shop i worked at was 2k excess per claim, they are insured for the loss of customers bikes, so if 6 bikes were nicked they can hardly complain about paying the excess really as it will all be one claim although the owners insurance need to be informed obviously.
